News 10.11
Okaaay, so it looks like this sitemap is turning into a permanent temporary
sitemap (at least for now!), which is bad news for my homepage but good
news for everything else (I think). Truth is, I want to do
different things, but don't have the time for everything I want to do.
I've had these stupid little news summaries up here for awhile
now, so I'll take a shot and finally posting a decent sized rant as to
what's going on with me.
A lot of my free time is spent on "Frangles",
which is a humorous online novel saga, like Douglas Adams, except
written with a very innovative structure: nonlinear prose, which means
you can re-arrange the pages to form many, many different stories and
books (once anything more than a hundred sporadic pages are
written). Frangles is a saga of the Xangles project, which may or
may not have something or nothing (pr everything) to do with me.
If
you haven't noticed this yet, XFBS7 is intentionally left a mystery as
to who or what exactly is working on it and whose idea it all is
to begin with. (XFBS7 stands for "Xangles, Frangles, Blorkk, & Squish7).
It could be just me devoting all my time to it [which would
require a full part-time or full-time weekly commitment for it to be
all me, not to mention I'd have to be an extremely fast and prolific
artist to do all this], or be anything else you can imagine.
Remember I spend a lot of time on YouTube, too, or at least work
on a lot of stuff I'm not posting just yet (though I could be bluffing;
hmmm...). All in all there are over 600 paperk paperback-lengthed
pages of Frangles prose (at 2.5 pages/day now), and lots of growing
hi-rez high-iteration fractal backgrounds
getting more popular as time goes by. So I'd have to be either
extremely prolific to be doing all that, or doing this 24/7 with no
sleep or sex or fun! It's one possibility, but there's lots other
poosibilities too. Maybe I don't spend ANY of my time on XFBS7 at
ALL, and a couple friends or net-friends asked me to be the XFBS7
spokesperson because of my online humorous stuff that vaguely covers
the ballpark of Xangles material. Yet it's also incredibly
different and often nothing like it at all, so your guess is as good as
mine.
XFBS7 could
also be a collaboration of any kind imaginable. Perhaps I met a
few friends of different majors in college; say a computer science
major, an English major, and a overly creative cafe owner who always
wanted to spend more of his time doing something more creative than
deciding what flavored coffee to put out for the day.
If
you're schizophrenic, it could quite easily be a couple aliens
introducing strange artistic concepts to man; hell knows this stuff is
quite bizarre. Nonlinear fiction to my knowledge has never even
been attempted save the children's book series Choose Your Own
Adventure, and that's when we didn't have the power of computers to
surf nonlinear pages (printing them out manually and rearranging them
is near impossible). It's quite a creative idea; in fact I was
fascinated by it myself when I first came across it. It almost
semed too strange an idea for the human imagination to come up
with. It seems a tad like relativity, something that blows
everything out of the water; or maybe it's
just narcisistically full of itself! (Manic psychotic
creativity can often do that).
ANYWAY,
I've tried to make this big index as uniform as possible, but you can
clearly see that each domain in XFBS7 has quite a different style, so
don't be fooled that my links all look the same. Squish7.com is
the sitemap only because it's accumulated a lot of hits over the
years and it was a good place to start talto start promoting the
project (maybe I was paid off... hmmmm). And of course, it still
has all the links to my stuff, so it's still Squish7. Also, it's
quite possible that my ADHD got bored with updating my page all the
time and my ability to hold a job has gotten better over the years, so
I don't have much time for it, which is why XFBS7 could have little to
do with me. Incidentally,
the uniform feeling of Xangles, Frangles, and Blorkk is done partly by
having the same style of fractal artwork used for all three.
Every image or background on Xangles, Frangles, and Blorkk is
rendered on a free program called Fractal Explorer. The
backrounds, too. The XFBS7 artistic methods for using it to
create the artwork have evolved since we/I/whoever started using it
quite some time ago. We've developed a style in the
way someone might with watercolor or oils or body art, or the way
someone might learn to skateboard, or be good with graphic digital
software.
To
sum up, the news of my life is that I may or may not be involved with
any or all of the stuff you see here, as well as working in secret on
other projects of my own, or for XFBS7, or something else, or not at
all! What a scooby dooer, unh? It's kinda weird,
actually, not being able to really give you any concrete news, but
that's what XFBS7 is all about. You have all your clues; you
decide. Anyways, there's a zillion pages of my stuff to go
through above (if you haven't read it all, it's something for you to go
do!), and if you want to keep up with XFBS7, just click all the links
above!
While
time to time updates will be here, day to day updates on all XFBS7 are
posted on the Frangles Updates page, so check that for up to date news
(it's tedious having updates pages on four domains, so some are just
now and then, and some are more frequent, like the Frangles Updates Page).
